ISO 14000 Environmental Management

Given the noticeable effects of years of over-consumption, and a growing focus in the public and in government on good environmental stewardship, the 14000 series of International Standards will continue to grow in significance.
While ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems is currently still the most widely adopted and understood of the series, international commitments to the reduction of environmental degradation – like the Kyoto Protocol – means that the ISO 14040 Life Cycle Assessment series and ISO 14064 Greenhouse Gases are also receiving greater attention.
Business should not be approaching this changing landscape with pessimism – there are a lot of opportunities to improve the bottom line and to create new ways of doing business. The motivation for implementing an ISO 14001 compliant system is always the same – by reducing consumption and waste, you improve your bottom line in the short term and ensure that your business is sustainable in the longer term.
Our Services
Contrary to what many of us have heard, making our business compliant with Environmental Standards does not often require massive changes in our way of doing things.
ISO Standards are non-prescriptive – there is no set requirement in terms of implementation or documentation. Unlike many consulting agencies, we do not pull a management system ‘manual’ off the shelf and force you to bend your business to suit.
Redskink’s approach is to help you demonstrate where your existing methods and processes comply to these Standards and how you may improve in areas where they don’t.
Even if you have no intention of gaining certification against Environmental Standards, they are still very helpful in designing new management processes that allow you to be more effective in resource use, and waste less.
With either approach, we can show you that ‘being green’ can mean money in the bank.
